Psychic Beginnings

So now we move on from seeing Harry Edwards to my next Psychic experience. From 1950 to 1972.

Time certainly does fly.

My Wife and I were in one of the larger towns in Yorkshire. This particular day we were in a bookshop, just browsing. My Wife was looking on the shelves at the other side of the shop, and I was looking on bookshelves containing various subjects. I remember looking at the books on the lower shelves.

THUD! This was from a shelf above me! I glanced up and saw that a book at the end of the top shelf had fallen over onto its side. I reached up and stood the book back on it's end. I carried on looking at the other shelves.

THUD!  I looked up, and this same book had fallen again onto its side again!.

So I stood it up again.

When I heard 'THUD' yet again I called my Wife over. I said to her"Watch this." We waited and waited, nothing happened. My Wife asked the obvious question, "What are we supposed to be watching?"

I told her what had been happening, she looked at me sideways and turned to walk away, and I turned with her, intending to leave the shop.

Yes, you've guessed it! For the fourth time the book fell over! I took it from the shelf and read the title, "Is Death The End". This was written by a Mr.& Mrs Phillips, and was an account of their search for proof of survival of the Soul, Spirit or whatever, after Death of the physical body.

Their story was fascinating. Apparently they had lost their only son, and were anxious to know if he had survived the condition known as Death.

It told of their contact with Mediums, Seances, Physical Circles etc. A truly good read. The pages of this paper back book led me to a whole new way of thinking-a new way of believing. Besides which, hadn't the Spirit World been very patient with me, or should the word be persistent?

It was not pure chance that led me to that book shop; and I know I was intended to go there, as I was to learn many years later.

On the next page, I relate how I saw The President of the National Spiritualist Association, the late Gordon Higginson, giving a demonstration. At the time he was President of the National Spiritualists Association.
